The register which has in total 74,442 registered voter was certified by the chief Registration Officer Mrs. Lynn Bilal. The transactions recorded from January 2020 to 31st December 2020 are all included in that register. The only difference in the newly certified register and that used in the 2020 election are the new additions recorded in the period following the elections up to December 2020, as well as the removal of persons deceased.

Mrs Bilal pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic has posed challenges for the Commission, causing delays in registration, verification and publication procedures in approving applications. The Chief Registration Officer also pointed out that the Commission has now centralized its services to its headquarters on Mahe instead of having offices in different regions. There is also an office on La Digue and two offices on Praslin.

Mrs Bilal took this opportunity to encourage First Time voters who are eligible to vote  to register as voter.
